I'm not a crazy paranoid conspiracy theorist. Really, I'm not. Terrible things might happen to our world - super volcano eruption, solar flare, nuclear bomb, zombie apocalypse. But chances are really good that they WON'T happen.
I'm not crazy. I know that.
But I've always loved to plan and pack things and be prepared. When I was a kid, I had this book of wildflowers and herbs, and I loved that book. I loved thinking that I could find food if I was on some wild adventure like I read about in books and needed it.
Lately I've been thinking it would be good to assemble a few, well chosen, sensible, moderate, emergency/survival supplies. Basic food, water, shelter. Just in case there was an emergency and I needed it. The other thing I want to assemble is INFORMATION. How to set up a snare, can food, find edible wild plants. I'm not avid outdoors-person and probably never will be, so I'd like to have this information somewhere easily accessible, just in case I need it. I probably never will.
I've looked at books and websites - but the information that I want isn't assembled the way I want it. A lot of it is way too intense. I don't need a book telling me exactly how to dig in a bunker and stock a year's worth of food. Some of it is too specific - I don't really want a whole library on survival skills.
So I created this blog as a place to archive the things that I research. I'll compile information here in the simplest, easiest way that I can, and occasionally print it out and put it with my emergency kit. I'm leaving this blog public, since I'm happy to share any information I find, but this is really just for me.
